Managing and Supporting glucose levels in cats

Monitoring cat urine glucose levels

While diabetes mellitus (DM) only occurs in less than 1% of cats, studies have suggested that it is becoming more common¹. At Royal Canin, we want to ensure that your cat has all the support possible to manage their glucose levels effectively.

Diabetes is challenging to detect and monitor

Cats are secretive animals, and they often hide the signs of disease. This means that you may not be immediately aware of changes within your cat, so it is important to regularly screen and monitor their urine glucose levels if it is recommended by your veterinarian.

Introducing Glucodetect, technology by BluCare TM

Glucodetect is an easy-to-use at home tool that can help you screen and monitor your cat's urine glucose. Glucodetect are small white granules that you can sprinkle on your cat's litter. When your cat uses the literbox and urinates on the granules they will change from white to cream if there is no glucose is detected in your cat's urine or green/blue if glucose is detected. This clear color change allows you to easily record changes in your cat’s urine glucose levels and report back to your veterinarian as directed. The color change can be detected after 10 minutes and will remain stable for up to 12 hours after urination.
