ROYAL CANIN® Renal with fish thin slices in gravy is a complete dietetic feed for cats formulated to support renal function in the case of chronic renal insufficiency. Recommendations: It is recommended that a veterinarian’s opinion be sought before use or before extending the period of use. Initially feed Renal with fish for up to 6 months in cases of chronic renal insufficiency and reduction of oxalate stone formation. Recommended for cases of: Azotemic Chronic Kidney Disease (IRIS stage 2 to stage 4), Management of calcium oxalate urolith recurrence in cats with impaired renal function, Prevention of recurrence of urolithiasis requiring urinealkalinisation: urate & cystine uroliths. Not recommended in cases of: Growth, gestation and lactation. This diet is complete and balanced and can be fed long-term. A full health check should be performed by a veterinarian every 6 months.

NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION

Composition: Poultry by-products, pork by-products, wheat flour, salmon (4%), powder cellulose, corn starch mixture, pork blood products, sunflower oil refined, minerals, fish oil, fructo-oligosaccharides, marigold meal. Protein sources: poultry by-products (15.3%), pork by-products (13.7%), salmon (4%).

Additives (per kg): Nutritional additives: Vitamin D3: 190 IU, Iron: 4 mg, Iodine: 0.36 mg, Copper: 2.9 mg, Manganese: 1.4 mg, Zinc: 14 mg - Technological additives: clinoptilolite of sedimentary origin: 0.2 g.

ANALYTICAL CONSTITUENTS: Protein: 6.6%, Fat content: 6.0%, Crude ash: 1.1%, Crude fibre: 1.0%, Moisture: 80.0%, Magnesium: 0.016%, Chlorides: 0.13%, Sulphur: 0.13%, Vitamin D (total): 330.0 IU/kg, Hydroxyproline: 0.05%, Essential fatty acids (linoleic acid, arachidonic acid): 1.54% - Urine alkalising substances: potassium citrate: 0.28%, calcium carbonate: 0.24%.

Renal diets are recommended as soon as creatinine goes out of reference range (from CKD late stage 2), before the disease further progresses, and before inappetence develops. In case of food aversion, the cat can be switched to another renal option without transition. After commencing a Renal diet, in addition to periodic measurement of renal biomarkers, blood mineral level monitoring is also recommended. In cases of diet induced hypercalcaemia, the cat should be switched to Early Renal diet. Other mineral disturbances (eg. hypokalaemia) may require additional treatment. In most cases, Renal diets may be continued for the cat’s lifetime. It is recommended that a full health check be performed every 6 months.
